Replace the Exhaust pipe... with what? (22Nov09)

Had some good feedback on the idea of the exhaust pipe, should it stay - replaced by something interesting - or should it go? Your votes were pretty clear, you thought NOTHING was a great alternative. Hmmm, that’s pretty subtle.... Nothing? Nada?

Now I understand this, and liked the idea a lot.... but I also thought about the lost marketing potential when drivers behind the ZEV 240 looked at an exhaust pipe. More discussion on the blog page about exhausting alternatives...

What battery type would you choose? (10sep09)

“If YOU were building an EV right now, choose a battery type”.

The answer was loud and clear, even as early as 2009 - 100% of you identified Lithium as your preferred chemistry. Forgive me not including the graph but it is a huge single-colour (green, amusingly) circle. Although there weren’t many other choices (Lead Acid, gel or flooded) it was pretty clear that readers on this site thought that was a fair approach to use. This is a practical choice in the circumstances, since Sodium Air and other technologies, no matter how good, are not here yet.

.... I was allowed, in Australia, an $8000 subsidy to put photovoltaic cells on my roof, presumably because it is reducing power station green-house gas emissions; why not do the same for converting cars, which are more polluting than power-stations?
